I have had an eVoice number for more than eight years; possibly twice that long. I have been an extremely happy customer who gladly touted the service, all of these years.

Suddlenly, without advance notice, warning -- or even after-the-fact notice -- my number stopped working.

Now, after numerous calls and e-mails, I still have not gotten any kind of explanation.

They tell me no account with that phone number exists, and that no account is associated with the e-mail address they have sent so many messages to, over these many years. This is on the telephone: utterly no explanation.

By e-mail? Nothing at all.

One message was rejected, as if my e-mail address had been blocked, so I used a different account, and still not one word of response.

If there had been some warning, or some explanation, I might have simply pulled out my credit card and signed up for another number. Under the circumstances, that probably won't happen, unless the figure out how to set me back up, at no charge, and let me use it for long enough to be reassured that they are not going out of business or ripping people off or going to do the same thing again.

During 6 months of free trial, I didn't get any use from this service at all, but it didn't strike me as a scam either. I thought it would be cool, but once I had the number I didn't really know what to do with it.

I wasn't going to transfer my existing business number to a trial service, or put the toll free number on cards or in ads without testing it first. It takes more of a carefully planned roll-out to make proper use of a new number on which a business relies.

Plus, if you don't like Evoice and want to change companies can you take the toll free number with you? Probably not, so too uncertain for anything but a secondary number as far as I'm concerned.

At eVoice we highly value the relationship with our customers. As you signed up and then successfully cancelled I'm not sure as to why you consider the service to be a scam?

The reason you gave for cancelling was that you couldn't end the contract for your current provider; this is a common problem when people are trying to move their number to our service - but also one that's beyond our control. Please let us know if we can answer any questions or clarify our terms of service.

Y'all are a scam. I never signed up but some how you trying to charge and send me to collections.

They just charged me $25 for taking advantage of there "Limited Time Offer" of a free professional recording, if I took advantage of it within the next 7 days. I certainly did that. Imagine my surprise when I got a $25 bill on my CC. I called to complain, and they basically told me to go to ***. They said the limited time offer is only for people who just signed up. (I signed up a year ago) I said "Well, if it's not available to me, why do you offer it me as a free limited time offer..."

Answer... "Go to ***"

Your credit card provider does not help you because you gave them your credit card details and they can take whatever they want without recourse. Avoid Evoice and any J2 related products like the plague.

Complimentary greetings are indeed a "limited time offer" to new customers within the first 7 days. We apologize if this wasn't clear enough.

The copy listed in the greetings interface is shown below;

IMPORTANT NOTE: Your first professional greeting (US English Female Voice) is free if you submit within 7 days of your sign up date.

If you wish to make changes to your greeting after the first 7 days, a $25 fee for each professional recording up to 125 words in length will be applied to your account. For greetings longer than 125 words, each additional group of 25 words is billed at $5.

I used their professional greeting and it is definitely worth the $25.00 I have been with this company for years and have never had a problem. Anytime I called their CS department I was always treated as a loyal customer and they are always very helpful.

I always love you people who complain about being charged for something and it turns out you did not read the fine print, and you still blame the merchant.

hmmm....maybe the people who are giving pleasant reviews work for e-voice. Every good review brings more customers, so who not pretend to be a customer...haha. Maybe everyone should go to beatjar.com so they listen to things that make everyone feel better!
